The realtor called Monday and said she had been trying to reach me about a house her associate listed last Friday. She said she made him hold it for us. (It isn't on the MLS). It is fairly nice! We made an offer on it, and they accepted it. It is 3 bdrm 1 bath with hardwood floors and Berber carpet in two bedrooms. I will be taking the old carpet out of the third, luckily the nice hardwood floor remains under it. It has new tile in the kitchen and bathroom. It has new appliances, and we are going to install new vinyl windows at closing (an addendum to the loan, we offered more than their asking price in order to include the cost of the windows). If for some reason that does not pass financing the current windows are ok, they are double pane aluminum, not single like I thought when I made the offer. It has a carport and an large outside utility room with a small bathroom. It has tons of storage with built in linen closets in the halls and a wrap around kitchen with many cupboards.
It looks like a middle class neighborhood, many RVs parked around. (Sign of long-term home owners). The yard needs a lot of work, but is fenced and has three nice big trees. There is a large cement patio in the back. The color of the house is awful! We will be repainting it even thought the paint is in great shape. I already found the color of brown I'll be painting it. I stopped by a lovely house with the same siding that looks marvelous and asked what colors they used. It's funny, she said at least once a month for five years someone stops by and asks them that. I must have good taste!
